Blog Tour: Harp's Song by Cassie Shine

HARP’S SONG

In just a few months Harp Evans will be officially coming of age and graduating from high school. She will be free from the mother that never wanted her, the house that never felt like home, and the disappointment of the last seventeen years. What she doesn’t know is that her mother has been holding onto a secret that has the potential to derail her dreams and destroy her already faulty sense of self.

A self-proclaimed recluse, Harp spends most of her time practicing the cello, in the hopes of earning a full scholarship that will grant her freedom, but will also send her away from her best friend Connor Williams, who is becoming more than just a friend.

As revelations are made, will Harp still feel the same way about leaving everyone that cares about her behind? Or will she continue to pursue the life she’s been dreaming of for as long as she can remember?

*Spoiler free review*

Wow.
Warning: You won't be able to put this book down!

Harp's Song is a beautiful and strong book that everyone needs to read! Due to the subject matter I wasn't sure what to expect and how I would feel while reading this. My heart broke for Harp and what she had to go through, but I'm so happy she had Connor who is her saviour and her spark that keeps her going. I fell in love with Connor and the way his relationship with Harp grows and develops.

Cassie is an fantastic writer who knows how to keep her readers on their toes just waiting to see what will happen next! She also knows how to capture Harp's reaction perfectly! I highly look forward to continuing with this series to see what happens next!

About Cassie Shine

Cassie Shine released her debut young adult novel, Harp's Song in November 2013, finally finishing the short story she started in her college creative writing class … many, many moons ago. She has always been an avid reader and lover of music (yes, she was in the high school marching band). While she has a weak spot for all things teeny bopper, especially boy bands, she also loves classical, country, rock and well, pretty much everything.

After living in St. Louis for more than ten years, she and her husband packed up a U-Haul and headed west. They currently live in Orange County, CA with their furry kids Finnegan and Molly.

**WWW Wednesdays is a weekly meme hosted by Should Be Reading!**

To play along, just answer the following three (3) questions…

• What are you currently reading?
• What did you recently finish reading?
• What do you think you’ll read next?

<------------------------------------>

What are you currently reading?
I'm (sadly) STILL reading Dash of Peril by Lori Foster. And I say sadly because I really wish I could get the chance to finish it! I have a couple of blog tours coming up so I've put this on pause to finish those first. I'm also currently reading Captivate Me by S.J. Pierce, which I'm reading for a blog tour.
Dash of Peril (Love Undercover, #4)Captivate Me (Captivated, #1)

What did you recently finish reading?
I recently finished 3 books, although this is not counting the fact that I re-read Dark Lover by J.R. Ward. The first one was Uncovering You: The Contract by Scarlett Edwards! I participated in the cover reveal which lead to the blog tour. I didn't know what to expect from this book but it shocked me! I gave it 4/5 stars. Next was Naomi Grim by Tiffany Nicole Smith, another blog tour read! And this was also so good! I gave it 4.5/5 stars. And lastly, I finished First Night by Lauren Blakely. I came across this on iBooks and decided to give it a try, I enjoyed reading this but I didn't love it. I will however be finishing this series! I gave it 3.5/5 stars.

What do you think you'll read next?
DOROTHY MUST DIE by Danielle Paige!! Yes, I purposely but the title in caps. I'm so excited to read this! I went to Chapters today to pick it up and of course they didn't have it yet. Sigh. So I'll have to wait until Thursday/Friday, but once I get that book in my hands!!

Waiting on Wednesday (1): Dreams of Gods & Monsters

**Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Breaking the Spine that spotlights highly anticipated upcoming releases!**

Dreams of Gods and Monsters

Author: Laini Taylor
Series: Daughter of Smoke & Bone, #3
Genre: YA, Fantasy
Expected Publication Date: April 8th, 2014

Synopsis:
By way of a staggering deception, Karou has taken control of the chimaera rebellion and is intent on steering its course away from dead-end vengeance. The future rests on her, if there can even be a future for the chimaera in war-ravaged Eretz.

Common enemy, common cause.

When Jael's brutal seraph army trespasses into the human world, the unthinkable becomes essential, and Karou and Akiva must ally their enemy armies against the threat. It is a twisted version of their long-ago dream, and they begin to hope that it might forge a way forward for their people.

And, perhaps, for themselves. Toward a new way of living, and maybe even love.

But there are bigger threats than Jael in the offing. A vicious queen is hunting Akiva, and, in the skies of Eretz ... something is happening. Massive stains are spreading like bruises from horizon to horizon; the great winged stormhunters are gathering as if summoned, ceaselessly circling, and a deep sense of wrong pervades the world.

What power can bruise the sky?

From the streets of Rome to the caves of the Kirin and beyond, humans, chimaera and seraphim will fight, strive, love, and die in an epic theater that transcends good and evil, right and wrong, friend and enemy.

At the very barriers of space and time, what do gods and monsters dream of? And does anything else matter?

Okay, confession: I'm not finished Daughter of Smoke & Bone yet. But I don't care! I'm still really excited for this to be released! Also, I'm going to the book signing! WOOOT!! For anyone in the GTA area, Laini Taylor will be at the Chapters on Queensway April 22nd, 2014!!

Is Dreams of Gods & Monsters on your list? Please feel free to leave your link below so I can see your Waiting on Wednesday pick!

<------------------------------------>

What are you currently reading?
Although I have a couple books on the go, the main two that I'm currently reading are Road to Somewhere by Kelley Lynn & Jenny S. Morris and Dash of Peril by Lori Foster!! Dash of Peril I received as an ARC from Netgalley, while Road to Somewhere I received as an ARC for a blog tour that I'm taking part of!

What did you recently finish reading?
I recently finished A Death-Struck Year by Makiia Lucier and By His Desire by Kate Grey. I haven't written a review for A Death-Struck Year yet because I'm stuck between either 3 or 4 stars. I'm thinking I might need to read it again so I can give it a final verdict. As for By His Desire, this book was an interesting read. Not a favourite but still enjoyable.

What do you think you'll read next?
The chances of me sticking to this are actually about 80%, for once! I'll end up reading either Guidebook to Murder by Lynn Cahoon, The Summer I Wasn't Me by Jessica Verdi or Sea of Shadows by Kelley Armstrong. I'm looking forward to reading all three :).
